New Year 20/20Vision

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Greetings in Christ!

How's your vision? Many of us would love to be able to answer that question with a response like, “my vision is 20/20”. Alas, while many of us would like to answer that way, we may need glasses or contacts to get us to that point.

Well, this year is 2020! I know it's not quite the same as physical vision, but the number of the year gives us an excellent opportunity to take our own “spiritual eye exam.”

Ephesians 1:8 says; I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you will know what the hope of His calling is, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

There is a song we often hear with the title “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” This song builds on the idea from Ephesians that God wants us to see with the eyes of faith! The eyes of faith go far beyond where our physical or sensory eyes will take us.

As we look ahead into 2020, most likely, there are many questions in our minds. With the political climate so heated, many people are wondering what November of 2020 will hold. Perhaps some of you are looking at a change in employment. Along with that could come a change in your living situation. Others may be looking forward to celebrating the birth of your first or fifth child. Or, even your first or fifth grandchild!

There are so many things about each New Year that fill us with questions.

There's another older song that has a chorus that goes like this:
“Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand. But I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand.”

While our physical eyes may dim with time, I pray our spiritual eyes of faith become sharper over time. If we just take the time to look over our lives, we recognize that God has been so faithful! Even in the times we may not have understood His ways, we have trusted His heart.

So, I ask you as we are on the horizon of the year 2020, “How's your vision”?

Keep your eyes on Jesus!

Ministry

Every 2 & 4th Wednesday

"Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

Our children’s program allows them to fellowship with one another through Bible stories and small group time.

 Mission:

Kingdom Kids exist to equip young people to develop a deeper relationship with Christ, encourage positive relationships with others and to extend the love of Christ to the world.

At Your Weakest

“God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect" ~2 Samuel 22:33 (NKJ)

At Your Weakest Moment …

. . . that’s when Satan will tempt you to sin. Our adversary is no fool. He’s not going to waste time and effort by working against your strengths. He will attack you when you are the weakest and where you are most vulnerable.

Here’s an example: Someone has had harsh words to say about you. They have assumed the worst, impugned your motives, jumped to false conclusions, spread rumor and innuendo about you. How will you react? You are angry, hurt, insulted, disgusted. The strong temptation is to strike back, to get even, to put this person “in his place”. But, you must not submit to the temptation. God’s word says, “Never pay back evil for evil to anyone… Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:17,21). It’s hard to follow this instruction at the moment, because you are weak and vulnerable. But this course of action is best – the Lord says so, and our own experience bears this out.

During such times of weakness and vulnerability, we should pray as David did, “Set a guard, 0 Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who do iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies” (Ps. 141:3,4).

We’ve been warned that Satan has many “devices” (2 Cor. 2:11). Chief among these is his ability to detect our weaknesses and attack us there. Please realize that you must work hardest during your weakest moments, because that is when Satan is at work against you.

Renewed Spirit

The New Year is a time to learn to rely more heavily on the grace of God. Now I’ve met a few self-made men and women and so have you, but so often these people seem proud, self-centred and driven. There is another way: beginning to trust in God’s help. One secret from the Apostle Paul: “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength,” he said. (Phil 4:13, NIV) And God’s strength saw him through pain, joy, and accomplishment. ~ Anonymous
